There's a morning tempo to festive mornings. Relatives are coming in and there is an oven full of sweets on the counter, and a kitchen that is hardly ever quiet. Beneath the guise of ‘morning meal’, breakfast is typically the first thing to be trimmed, or the mithai becomes a bite while standing.

This year, try something a little different. Here are some festive breakfast ideas with marine collagen that will add a little extra nutritional punch to your holiday meal, but won't spoil the flavor of anything! All recipes below don't take more than 20 minutes, and most can be prepared overnight.

Why Marine Collagen at Breakfast?

Your skin, joints and connective tissues are made mostly of collagen, the most abundant protein in your body. With the aging process reducing the body's production of natural collagen, supplementation could be a simple addition to your wellness regimen.

1Chaze Marine Collagen contains hydrolysed Type I marine collagen peptides, providing approximately 9.1 g of protein per 10 g serving. It is unflavoured, gluten-free, and contains no added sugar or fat.

1Chaze Marine Collagen isn't a shortcut to glowing skin or better health. It is a convenient supplement that can complement a balanced diet, adequate protein intake, quality sleep and consistent skincare.

And the best part? There's no need to have a complete overhaul of your morning routine. Whether you're planning an overnight oat or making a fruit smoothie or enjoying your morning coffee, there's plenty of 1Chaze Marine Collagen breakfast recipes to show how to easily add collagen peptides into a meal you already enjoy.

5 Easy Collagen Breakfast Ideas for the Festive Season

A note before you start: use an unflavoured marine collagen powder and follow the serving size on the pack. Our 1Chaze Marine Collagen Powder is what we use in the kitchen, and it mixes smoothly into both hot and cold foods. Any of these recipes works with a standard single serving.

1. Saffron-Cardamom Overnight Oats

This is the one to make on the night before a busy morning. It tastes like a festive kheer, but it needs no stove.

Ingredients: ½ cup rolled oats, ¾ cup milk of your choice, 1 tbsp chia seeds, a pinch of saffron soaked in 1 tbsp warm milk, ¼ tsp cardamom powder, 1 tsp honey or jaggery syrup, 1 serving marine collagen, chopped pistachios to finish.

Method: Stir everything except the pistachios in a jar. Make sure the collagen is fully mixed in before it goes in the fridge, because lumps are harder to fix later. Leave it overnight, top with pistachios and a few saffron strands in the morning, and eat it cold or warmed for a minute.

2. Masala Omelette with Collagen

A festive morning staple, made a little fluffier and a little more filling.

Ingredients: 2 eggs, 1 tbsp milk, 1 serving unflavoured marine collagen, finely chopped onion, tomato, green chilli and coriander, ¼ tsp chaat masala, salt, pepper, 1 tsp ghee or butter, grated cheese (optional).

Method: Dissolve the collagen in the milk first, then whisk it into the eggs until no specks remain. Fold in the vegetables and seasoning. Cook on medium-low heat in ghee for two to three minutes, add cheese if using, fold and serve with toast or a warm paratha. Keep the heat gentle and the cooking time short, which also keeps the omelette soft.

3. Besan Chilla with Mint Curd

A good vegetarian answer and easy to make recipe.

Ingredients: 1 cup besan, ¾ cup water, 1 serving marine collagen, chopped onion, tomato, spinach, ½ tsp ajwain, ¼ tsp turmeric, salt, oil for the pan. For the dip: ½ cup curd, mint, a pinch of roasted cumin.

Method: Whisk the besan, water, collagen and spices into a smooth batter, then stir in the vegetables. Pour onto a hot, lightly oiled tawa, spread thin and cook both sides until golden. Serve with the mint curd.

4. Ragi-Banana Pancakes

A good option if you’re feeding a crowd. These are soft, lightly sweet and a little earthy.

Ingredients: ½ cup ragi flour, ½ cup whole wheat flour, 1 ripe mashed banana, 1 egg (or a flax egg), ¾ cup milk, 1 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp cinnamon, 1 serving marine collagen, ghee for the pan.

Method: Whisk the dry ingredients together, including the collagen. Mix in the banana, egg and milk until you have a pourable batter. Cook on a medium pan until bubbles form, flip and cook for another minute. Serve with a spoonful of curd, sliced fruit and a little jaggery syrup.

5. Vegetable Oats Upma with Collagen

Not every festive breakfast needs to be sweet. After a few days of sugar, this savoury bowl feels like a reset.

Ingredients: 1 cup rolled oats (lightly roasted), 1 tsp oil or ghee, mustard seeds, curry leaves, 1 chopped green chilli, ½ onion, ¼ cup each of carrot, peas and beans, 1½ cups water, salt, lemon juice, 1 serving marine collagen.

Method: Temper the mustard seeds and curry leaves, then cook the onion and vegetables until just tender. Add the water and salt, bring it to a boil and stir in the oats. When it thickens, switch off the heat. Dissolve the collagen in a little warm water and fold it in, finishing with lemon juice and coriander. It works well because the spices cover any trace of flavour, so nobody at the table will guess what’s in it.

Tips for Cooking with Collagen Powder

Hydrolysed collagen peptides are already broken down, which is why they dissolve so easily. Gentle cooking temperatures, like warm porridge, upma or pancake batter, are fine. Very high heat held for a long time is a different matter, so skip frying or boiling the powder directly. The easiest approach is to stir it in at the end, once the pan is off the heat.

A few other things help:

  • Mix the powder with a small amount of liquid first, then add it to the main dish.

  • Add it to foods that are warm rather than boiling.

  • Pair it with a source of vitamin C, such as citrus, berries, amla or guava.

  • Start with one serving a day and see how your stomach feels.

A Simple Way to Start

You don’t need to make all five of these. Pick one that suits the pace of your festive week, whether that’s overnight oats for the rushed mornings or the ragi pancakes for a slow Sunday, and keep the habit going. If you’d like to try the powder used here, you can find it on the 1Chaze Marine Collagen Powder page, and the rest of our range lives at 1Chaze.com.

Happy festive season, and happy breakfasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is marine collagen good for?
The principal applications for marine collagen are to support skin hydration and elasticity, support joint comfort, and strengthen hair and nails. The benefits differ from individual to individual and are most effective when paired with a healthy diet and lifestyle habits.

2. Can you add collagen powder to breakfast food?
Yes. Unflavoured collagen powder can be easily incorporated into oats, porridge, smoothies, pancake batter and yogurt, or even savory foods such as upma.

3. Does heat or cooking destroy collagen’s benefits?
Collagen peptides are stable at normal cooking temperatures, such as warm porridge or batter. Extremely high heat for long periods may break them down further, so it’s best to stir the powder in at the end of cooking.

4. How much marine collagen should you take per day?
The 1Chaze marine collagen can be taken 10 grams in a day.

5. What is the best time of day to take collagen?
There’s no strong evidence that one time beats another. The best time is whichever one you’ll stick to. Many people choose breakfast because it’s easy to build into an existing routine.

6. Can marine collagen be mixed into hot food like porridge or upma?
Yes. Let the dish come off the boil, dissolve the powder in a little warm liquid and stir it through. It dissolves well in hot food and doesn’t change the flavour.
